Marco Adamo: l'Arte nel Pallone
The Contini art gallery is pleased to present Marco Adamo's solo show entitled 'l’Arte nel Pallone'. The exhibition is hosted in the gallery's premises in Cortina d'Ampezzo (BL), in the heart of the Dolomites, in Piazza Silvestro Franceschi, 7.
Adamo's painting is characterised by a strong and energetic gestural expressiveness. It unites two worlds that seem to be at odds, art and sport, creating an innovative link that has never been thought of before. His poetics are engaging, captivating and at the same time peculiar. This decidedly abstract dimension brings him closer to American Action Painting, where the artwork departs from traditional painting conventions. The ball dipped in acrylic paint and kicked onto the canvas, leaving an indelible mark, is the main instrument of his painting. This energetic gesture creates a visual dance of blobs of colour that overlap and blend, creating a fluctuating dynamic. The work has a sense of movement, almost as if it were alive, due to the variation in intensity and direction of the strokes. Each impression represents a moment frozen in time, an echo of a momentary action translated into a powerful visual language. This mark somehow recalls the liveliness of playing when, as children, we would throw balls at the wall to respond to a special moment of the day. The harder you threw, the more the mark remained, and in the same way Adamo's style evokes youthful memories and leaves a lasting impression.
His canvases can be divided into works that are full of marks and others with only a few clear traces, leaving space for the free expression of thoughts and reflections. The innovative technique of lobed action painting, a unique artistic approach, blends frantic movement and spontaneity to create a work that captures attention and fires the imagination.
He quotes Jackson Pollock: ‹The modern artist [...] works to express an inner world; in other words, to express movement, energy and other inner forces›. Adamo finds in the soccer balls not only artistic tools, but also comrades in his struggle against injustice.. The artist wants to rebuild a lost global harmony by breaking down all conventionally constructed barriers of hatred and racism.
Alongside the explosions of colour, Adamo integrates football team crests, symbols of belonging and collective identity; not merely decorative, they convey an important message: art and sport can unite people, transcending differences and divisions. Some of his work's titles include “Jewel”, “Rebirth” and “Infinity”, underlining this quest for unity and peaceful bonding.
