Enzo Fiore: L’Apparente Verità, Viareggio
Using nature as raw material, Fiore’s art becomes an emblem of the continuous motion of existence
The city of Viareggio renews its connection with art by hosting at Lorenzo Viani Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art a major monographic exhibition by Milanese artist Enzo Fiore. The exhibition is promoted by the City of Viareggio and the Department of Culture, and is organized by the Contini Art Gallery, which represents the artist. The Lorenzo Viani Gallery thus opens its doors to Fiore's evocative and unique works in an exhibition path that winds between painting and sculpture, leading the visitor to capture the deep connection between art, man and nature. It is from nature, in fact, that Enzo Fiore draws to shape his creative flair: roots, moss, twigs, leaves, earth, stones or even insects are the dominant and inescapable elements of his compositions. Nature thus becomes the main tool for the realization of his works, what at first glance may seem to be a material agglomeration of pigments reveals itself, under closer and more careful examination, to be a micro-world of organic details that tell and remind us of the natural world that surrounds us and on which we inevitably depend. In his works subject and subject matter merge, canvases are tinged with earthy, enveloping hues, and essential, punchy colors sketch faces of entertainment legends, from Marilyn Monroe to Paul Newman, and historical figures, such as Gandhi or J.F. Kennedy. Alongside portraiture, the artist also produces views of well-known cities, also defined and pervaded by roots and insects, all elements now inanimate and crystallized within the composition that nevertheless regain life and expressive force in the form of artistic creation. In his sculptures, the guideline becomes the plant element such as the root that sinuously tames and shapes itself following the forms of the body that the artist wants to create, it innervates itself becoming almost an anatomical expression.
