Park Eun Sun: Colonne Infinite
No longer structural or decorative elements, Park’s columns now have a different ambition: they are a sculptural formulation of the concept of infinity
On the occasion of the 'Year of Cultural Exchange Italy and Korea 2024-2025' and the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Korea, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Cultural Institute in Italy and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) present the exhibition 'Infinite Columns' by artist Park Eun Sun. Curated by Leonardo Contini, the exhibition will be held from June 11 to September 30, 2024 at iconic sites in Rome's historic center: the Temple of Venus, Piazza Bocca della Verità, and Septizodium.
The works of Park Eun Sun, who has lived in Italy for 30 years, are a fusion of Eastern aesthetics and Western tradition, characterized by deep fractures that symbolize suffering and rebirth. Prominent among the works on display is a fourteen-meter-tall sculpture that will ideally dialogue with Rome's historic columns, reinterpreting the concept of the column as a symbol of infinity.
The exhibition, the result of a collaboration with the Colosseum Archaeological Park, the Municipality of Rome and the Contini Art Gallery, is an important celebration of the ongoing cultural exchange between Italy and Korea, reflecting the desire for the infinite development of relations between the two countries.
