Park Eun Sun: L'Eredità della Scultura

Contini Art Gallery in Venice, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pietrasanta and Banca Versilia Lunigiana e Garfagnana (BVLG), is pleased to present Park Eun Sun's solo exhibition entitled The Legacy of Sculpture. The exhibition is sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Italy and the Korean Cultural Institute.

Against the fascinating backdrop of Pietrasanta, known for its historical tradition of marble working, Park Eun Sun's works will be displayed in various iconic locations in the city, including Piazza Duomo, Piazza Carducci, and the Complesso di Sant'Agostino.

Park Eun Sun's sculptures represent a harmonious synthesis of his Eastern roots and influences from the Western artistic tradition. The works, characterised by fractures and recompositions, symbolise suffering and rebirth, evoking a beauty that emerges from artistic creation. Marble, worked with a sophisticated bichromatic technique, becomes the medium through which the artist expresses the complexity of human experience.

The exhibition includes monumental works such as 'Colonna Infinita - Accrescimento' (2022), over eleven metres high, located in the central Piazza del Duomo. In the Church of Sant'Agostino, the Maestro's luminous sculptures create an evocative atmosphere, while the Cloister are on display previously unpublished drawings and bronze works, offering an in-depth look at Park's creative process. A section of the exhibition is also devoted to the works of Park Eun Sun's wife, Lee Kyung Hee, and some of his former collaborators, celebrating the collective contribution to his artistic evolution.
